Telecom Engineer
Welcome to my profile! I'm Raúl, Telecommunication Engineer by profession and a Renaissance vocation ;-)
My connection with technology begins in my childhood and is manifested by stripping down appliances. In 1989, my school buys some computers and computing classes begin. This is the way I meet MS-DOS and LOGO, what changes my life. In 1994, I learn to program in Pascal in high school. The rest is already boring ;-)
Oddly enough, I didn't study Computer Science, but Telecommunication: television won over computing. Later, life and curiosity led me to pass several times through the University: first to study Aeronautical Engineering and then to study a Business Intelligence and Big Data Master Program.
My professional career started with the 21st century, completing some internship programs in several technology companies (HP, LocTeam and Mier Comunicaciones). Finally I landed in Cellnex Telecom (formerly Abertis Telecom, formerly Tradia + Retevision, formerly Center de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya + Radiotelevisión Española). I've been linked to several technologies at Cellnex: TETRA security networks, DTT, FM and DAB broadcasting, video coding, Internet video distribution, HbbTV, IoT systems, Smart Cities, Big Data... Always providing an innovative vision and looking for the efficiency of the processes.
Throughout my career I've worked as solution architect, project manager and "problem solver" (all at the same time), which has allowed me to strengthen my skills and acquire new ones. My abilities are self-learning, continuous improvement, orientation to innovation and teamwork. Although programming is not part of my day-to-day work, it allows me to supervise the job of the suppliers and it provides me some tools to solve everyday problems such as analyzing data or automating tasks.

Here you can find some of the projects where I've been involved recently.
Design and deployment of an analytic system for Open Payments data
The relationship between the health technology industry and the national healthcare systems is becoming more and more collaborative, so it is essential to accomplish with the ethical and transparency criteria. In this sense, Open Payments emerges as an open data initiative that publishes data related to health technology industry’s payments to physicians and hospitals.
In this context, in my Master's final project I've performed the design and implementation of an operation system of Open Payments data that requires the necessary information to answer several analytical questions. In addition, this system allows to expand any analysis that may arise in the future.
HbbTV Awards 2018:
Judges’ Grand Prix Prize winner
LOVEStv is a project in which Cellnex Telecom has worked as a technology provider, together with the major Spanish broadcasters (RTVE, Mediaset and Atresmedia). LOVEStv allows viewers to take advantage of the internet's capacity and enjoy the advantages of linear DTT to the time they have access to non-linear content and services. LOVEStv improves the user experience with features such as an improved programming guide, viewing content from the last week and restarting a program when it has already started.
I've been involved in several parts of LOVEStv such as architecture design, integration and plaform analytics.
LOVEStv was received the Judges’ Grand Prix Prize at the HbbTV Awards 2018. Jury quote: “Transforms people’s viewing experience on a large scale.”
